Radio-Isotope Identification Algorithms for NaI γ Spectra
نویسندگان
چکیده
The performance of Radio-Isotope Identification (RIID) algorithms using NaIbased spectroscopy is increasingly important. For example, sensors at locations that screen for illicit nuclear material rely on isotope identification using NaI detectors to distinguish innocent nuisance alarms, arising from naturally occurring radioactive material, from alarms arising from threat isotopes. Recent data collections for RIID testing consist of repeat measurements for each of several measurement scenarios to test RIID algorithms. It is anticipated that vendors can modify their algorithms on the basis of performance on chosen measurement scenarios and then test modified algorithms on data for other measurement scenarios. It is therefore timely to review the current status of RIID algorithms on NaI detectors. This review describes spectra from NaI detectors, measurement issues and challenges, current RIID algorithms, data preprocessing steps, the role and current quality of synthetic spectra, and opportunities for improvements.

متن کاملMeasuring γ–ray dose of terrestrial samples using β-γ Spectrometry
Background: The existence of some radionuclides in soil and some building materials produce a β-γ radiation field, which in some regions the exposure of these radionuclides to human is high. Materials and Methods: The air-absorbed dose, indoor and outdoor annual effective dose of soil and some building material samples (ceramic, granite, gypsum, etc.). The samples were collected from 3...
متن کاملThe GLAST Burst Monitor (GBM)
The selection of the GLAST burst monitor (GBM) by NASA will allow the investigation of the relation between the keV and the MeV-GeV emission from γ-ray bursts. The GBM consists of 12 NaI and 2 BGO crystals allowing a continuous measurement of the energy spectra of γ-ray bursts from ∼ 5 keV to ∼ 30 MeV. One feature of the GBM is its high time resolution for time-resolved γ-ray spectroscopy. More...
متن کاملCleaning of raw peptide MS/MS spectra: improved protein identification following deconvolution of multiply charged peaks, isotope clusters, and removal of background noise.
The dominant ions in MS/MS spectra of peptides, which have been fragmented by low-energy CID, are often b-, y-ions and their derivatives resulting from the cleavage of the peptide bonds. However, MS/MS spectra typically contain many more peaks. These can result not only from isotope variants and multiply charged replicates of the peptide fragmentation products but also from unknown fragmentatio...
متن کاملIDFraIP:A Novel Protein Identification Algorithm Based on Fragment Intensity Patterns
A Identifying peptides for their fragmentation spectra by database search sequencing method is crucial to interpret LC-MS/MS data, widely used algorithms had not been fully exploited the intensity patterns in fragment spectra, SQID incorporated intensity information and identified peptides significantly more peptides than Sequest and X!Tandem. Although SQID adopted various datasets which based ...
